Dales Way. May 2022 by Francis and Mary from Scotland

A wonderfully planned and excellently catered for holiday.

"A truly excellent company who helped us ensure we had a great time just to do the walking and they took perfect control of everything else with great professionalism. Very highly recommended by us."

Dales Way. October 2021 by Liz from London

Superb, but wet.

"Cannot recommend Wandering Angus highly enough. Everything ran like clockwork. Will definitely be using them again."

Dales Way. June 2021 by Wendy from Devon

A wonderful relaxing holiday which gave us all the break we needed.

"This is the first time I've used a company to organise a walking holiday. Wandering Aengus made it so easy for us by their fantastic organisation. It was always easy to speak with either Karen or Pete rather than a machine! We will certainly contact them again for any future walking holidays. Our accommodation was good and all we had to think about was enjoying our walks each day. We didn't want it to end!!!"

Dales Way. September 2020 by C J Brown from Ilkley

Excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the company. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and easy to contact.

"We had an excellent walking holiday. The company was recommended to me and they surpassed my expectations. All the accommodation was good together with the information pack supplied. I would recommend the use of Wandering Aengus to plan your walking holiday. They make it very easy, it is just the walking that is hard!"

Dales Way. July 2019 by Paul from Sheffield

Loved the Dales Way with wonderful scenery.

"We were 6 adults and a dog walking the Dalesway over 8 days. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Great organisation, wonderful experienceand some intresting characters along the way. I would recommend it as a long distance walk and for Wandering Aengus organisation."

Dales Way. June 2019 by Roy Barton from Isle of Wight

Well organised with excellent documentation.

"The organisation of our walk along the Dales Way was first class. The accommodation at each stopping point was very comfortable and the distances between each hotel/B & B were very suitable for the pace we wanted to walk. The scenery was majestic but quite varied along the way. We would thoroughly recommend using Wandering Aengus on the basis of our experience!"

Dales Way. June 2019 by Naaman and Tali from Israel

Six days of walking in gorgeous landscapes.

"Lush hills, streams, viaducts, picturesque villages, remote farms, and mansions that look like they were taken from a BBC series following Jane Austen's book. Real English pubs, local beer, and loads of sheep. Sleeping in small, but definitely satisfying - hostels, hot water and meals. The organization was flawless, with no mishaps: lodging arrangements, maps and information, the transfer of equipment, etc. In conclusion - recommended!"

Dales Way. May 2018 by 'Dales Wayers' from Orlando, USA

From email interactions with you both before the trip, to clear route info and instructions, to excellent accommodations, all was top notch

"Of the six in our group (three siblings and their spouses), all are very experienced travellers but with different tastes and travel styles, ranging from hostels to five star hotels. Your arrangements worked for all of us. The little laminated maps were great. I had downloaded OS maps to my phone before the trip, and we sometimes referred to them to confirm we were on route."

Dales Way map
The Dales Way mostly follows river valleys and is therefore less strenuous than trails such as the Pennine Way or Coast to Coast. It is a good trail to choose if you want an introduction to Long Distance Path (LDP) walking. Depending on where you look for information, the trail length varies from 75.5 miles (the distance as measured on the 1:25000 Ordnance Survey map) to 81 miles (the distance given on most of the route signage). The distance for the route given by the Dales Way Association is 78 miles. This is relatively short for a long distance trail and means that it can easily be completed within a week.
